St. John’s Head Coach Mike Anderson
On the game…
“We got everybody out there to play today. Some guys came in and gave some pretty good minutes. Mohamed [Keita] got in there, and Drissa [Traore] got in there and got some minutes. I thought our bench, at times, played well. In the second half, fatigue kind of crept in on both teams. Overall, there are some things we need to continue to harp on, transition defense, keeping people out of the lane and cleaning up our turnovers.”
On some positives he saw in the game…
“I thought, starting off the game, we had much better ball movement. I think we had 26 assists, so that shows me we’re sharing and caring about the basketball. I think the big positive was getting most of the guys on the floor. I thought, offensively, we executed a little bit better.”
On playing in Felipe Lopez’s hometown…
“The people have been very gracious. It’s a big honor for his alma mater to come and play in his hometown. We’re actually going to go have a [meal] at this house. He continues to talk about St. John’s, and what it means, to these guys. St. John’s helped him to become the person that he is and he’s a big-time philanthropist back here in [the Dominican Republic] and done so much for his community.”
