It would be hard to shy away from acknowledging that Brock Nelson is finally coming into his own as a solid second line center for the New York Islanders. The former first round pick from 2010 set himself a new career high in points with 54, while also tying his career bests in goals at 26 and assists at 28. Nelson seems to have found a sense of comfortability on the second line, seeing his wingers Anthony Beauvillier and Jordan Eberle respectively put up 39 and 40 points themselves, combining for a total 133 points. In other words, they produce. And generally, produce in the clutch, as we all remember the fantastic postseason play from the three against the likes of the Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals. Nelson, who is now going into the second year of his 7 year, $42 million deal, can only get better from here. There are a few things that Nelson may want to focus working on this offseason, perhaps some confidence in his shots can certainly help his case to becoming a 30 goal scorer, as most Islander fans may agree that Nelson passes up on many golden scoring chances to create a play. As far as his play from the 2019-20 campaign, things can only get better for Brock, and can help contribute to making the Islanders more lethal on the offensive front very, very soon.
