It goes without question that the New York Yankees envisioned a much better start to the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) season. After dropping their first game and winning their second, The Bronx Bombers had a chance to grab a winning record and their three-game split against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
Starting his first game since off-field controversies in 2019, Domingo German took to the Yankee Stadium mound.
Neither team scored in the first inning, but German allowed three runs in the top of the second. He lasted only three innings. Michael King took over for the Yankees and pitched the final six innings, doing so beautifully.
The Jays did not score again, and the Yanks posted a run in the fifth inning. They lost the game 3-1.
Consistency has already been a massive issue for the Yankees, and if it doesn’t improve soon, they are behind the eight-ball in the race with Tampa Bay for the American League East. Aaron Boone has not yet lost his clubhouse, but they must stop the bleeding before it starts.
They will take on the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium on Monday. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM Eastern Time.
